Web makeover for a 20-year-old biotech that creates artificial skin

It kinda creeped me out when I first found out about Mattek. They make artificial skin. But the skin — a.k.a. tissue model — is so real it acts like living tissue. Don’t believe me? Check out this video of EpiAirway tissue under a microscope.

However, I did a total 180º when the folks at Mattek explained to me their artificial skin actually saves cute little bunnies from being harmed in lab tests.

How cool is that?

As part of 3 Media Web’s virtual team, Rushminute’s very own Robbie Moore led the creative process for Mattek’s new website makeover.

It’s ALIIIIVE!!!

It turns out the cosmetic industry was quick to adopt artificial skin, but fuddy-duddy scientists in pharma weren’t. They didn’t want to pin their research on some new-fangled artificial skin.

The solution? Zoom in on the tissue samples and show how UNARTIFICIAL the skin is. Make Mattek’s innovative, cost-effective product a hero of epic proportions. Turn the puny tissue models into gigantic, glorious new creations even Dr. Frankenskin would be proud of.

I guess that’s what you call breathing life into a clunky ol’ website.
