Long Ridge School

Web makeover for private day school in Connecticut

Remember “Show and Tell” time in kindergarten?

The new Long Ridge School (LRS) website is just like that kid next to you who just brought her kitty cat to class. Cute, fun and you can’t take your eyes off it.

How’d it happen? Well, right after being onboarded by 3 Media Web as the virtual creative director for the makeover, I discovered LRS was blessed with a ton of gorgeous images of LRS students. I mean REALLY gorgeous images captured by a graduate of the school: Rosie Slater.

Show, Don’t Tell

The obvious design decision was to maximize the photos. Why? Every prospective parent wants to see their kids happy and successful and you can’t FAKE natural, unposed happiness in a kid.

Though working with schools typically involves finding consensus – which usually watering down the design – in this case, the LRS team never took their eyes off the big picture.

Which of course, is to show, don’t tell.
